The beauty of vintage...

The beauty of vintage is that it is has a history, but it can be worn in a new way, the star component of a very fashion forward style sense. Vintage dealers like me crave these timeless pieces of beauty and curate collections that span decades and merge trends.

The best of fashion, the most seductive materials, the exceptional details, the perfect dart and the most exquisite buttons, vintage is easy, sexy sophistication: the woman you can’t take your eyes off at a party whose amazing stories of her past match her fabulous charmeuse dress or killer crocodile heels. She's definitely the one you’ll remember the next morning when you’re recuperating from the bubbly.

Dries Van Noten loves the Fifties

Dries Van Noten FW 2010

I was going to wait till Summer passed before going blog crazy over the Fall Runway since we stock the store seasonally, but since it feels like fall anyway, I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Especially since Dries Van Noten's Fall/Winter show was really all about layering pieces that could easily stick around in your closet throughout the Summer. And he does it in such a fresh way that makes you appreciate a cool breeze!

I mean, this look is so incredibly 1950's! Super modern sillouetts, very clean, very smart. I think a lot of it is the minimal military pallette that helps keep it feeling so fresh. That and the tosseled hair, dark glasses and unlikely pairings of things, like she just grabbed it on her way out without a second thought.

Here are a couple of our favorite looks from the show that inspired our own:
